Two years before, we had an opportunity to conduct a workshop on robotics for children, to prepare them for a National competition conducted by IIT Bombay. About 400 students registered for our hands-on session. This workshop ended as success in terms of participation but the lack of in-depth knowledge left them not participating in the contest.
For something, which is called as tomorrow’s technology the availability of limited knowledge made us look out for more. Based on this experience and the requests from the parents of the students we started working in this direction.
A series of research activities were set off in the form of interaction with the school principals, science teachers and parents on the lines of designing our curriculum to match their academic schedule and syllabus; a thorough study was also performed on the other resources which are available in Chennai (as a sample zone). We arrived at a comprehensive programme under the technical guidance of our technical team and effectively launched Robotix Lab and Research Academy on 16th November 2008. |
